Pro Soy Crab, Gangnam We visited Pro Soy Crab in Gangnam specifically to try their signature raw crab dish. It was a drizzly Friday evening, and we arrived around 6:30 p.m. to find ourselves the only guests in the restaurant, which felt somewhat unusual for a venue of its reputation. The building itself exudes a sense of grandeur upon entry, with a wall of famous people photos who had done here in the past. The raw crab was generously filled with roe and beautifully presented. However, the texture of the raw flesh, reminiscent of soft fish paste, was an acquired taste and not quite to my personal preference. We also ordered the monkfish soup, often referred to as the “poor man’s lobster.” The portion size was generous, with plenty of mung bean sprouts and about 8-9 pieces of fish, but the broth lacked depth of flavour and the monkfish meat was bony and chewy. Not suitable for children. The overall dining ambience was dimly lit. One notable disappointment was the use of paper cups and melamine plates — unexpected for a restaurant in this price range, particularly when serving hot soup. Service was provided by a single elderly gentleman who appeared to be managing the restaurant on his own. While efficient, he seemed rather reserved and weary, contributing to the overall muted dining experience. By the time we left, only one other couple had arrived. In summary, while the presentation and setting carried a sense of prestige, the overall experience — from the atmosphere to the meal — fell short of expectations for the price point. Worth trying once for the experience but not a repeat visit for me. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₩30,000–40,000 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
