I stopped at Punthai Coffee Cha-Am 3 and went for something a little different — a Pure Matcha with Palm Sugar Syrup. Honestly, it was the perfect balance between earthy and sweet. The matcha had that clean, grassy flavor — not too bitter, not powdery — just smooth and refreshing. The palm sugar syrup (tarn ta nod, as the locals call it) gave it this warm, caramel-like sweetness that blended beautifully without overpowering the tea. It’s like Japan met rural Thailand and decided to chill together in a cup. The drink came beautifully layered — that deep green matcha floating over golden syrup like an edible sunset. A quick stir, and you get that creamy swirl of flavors that hits differently when you’re escaping Cha-Am’s afternoon heat. The texture was silky, the sweetness perfectly balanced, and I could actually taste the quality of the palm sugar, not just generic sweetness. The café itself is cozy and spotless, with a relaxed beach-town vibe and friendly staff who actually seem to enjoy their job (rare enough to deserve applause). It’s the kind of place you pull over “just for a drink” and end up staying to enjoy the peace. Next time, I might skip dessert — because honestly, this matcha was the dessert.
