I very much wanted to love this place. I attended a music event upstairs and wanted to enjoy a more sophisticated beverage than those served there. Myself and two friends entered Ron bar from the back staircase as we were coming from upstairs. The bar had three customers at the time. We were informed that we would have to go down the stairs and come back up the front staircase. It didn’t matter that we were already there. We offered to sit at the bar for one drink but were told we would need a reservation. Again, there were three other customers there as this was around 8:30. As a former bar owner I understand their concern but the waiter and bartender handled the situation in an unprofessional and unwelcoming manner. Passing by again around ten o’clock the bar had about 70% of the seats occupied and the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. Perhaps the staff was nervous because we are ( Chinese speaking) foreigners. Perhaps with some training they would handle the situation differently. +++EDIT+++ One of the reasons I post reviews is to give management a perspective other than the one given by employees. Having spent around 15 years in the hospitality industry I can see when staff are struggling and do not know how to handle a situation. The response from Ron Island to my initial review is factually incorrect. No one mentioned being tired. Your staff told us we would have to walk down the stairs and walk back up the other stairs in order to be served. If your definition of " properly receive and assist everyone" requires patrons to run laps, that is very strange. This was NOT about any 'next time'. My friend's desire to leave was a response to the strange and unwelcoming attitude of the staff. The name of this industry is 'hospitality' and on this day at least the attitude was definitely inhospitable. Even the best staff slip up. Hopefully my next attempt at getting served here is successful.-edit two- I added another star because I think the place looks great and management are aiming for higher standards. I’m still optimistic about this place. Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3

Hello Thank you for liking and supporting our venue. We kindly ask guests to enter through our main entrance and staircase because this allows us to properly receive and assist everyone. On that day, we asked you to enter from downstairs, but you mentioned you were tired and preferred not to. Our staff was simply informing you that next time, guests will need to enter through the main entrance on the first floor. We did not refuse to serve you. It was your accompanying friend who decided not to enter after hearing about the minimum charge. Thank you.
