We ordered a set Dinner for 2 people plus Gejang, which cost 140,000 KRW – an extremely high price for what we received.
Here’s what went wrong:
Used charcoal – The server brought out a grill with very little charcoal left, and it was clearly already burned from previous customers. In every other Korean BBQ restaurant I’ve visited, they use fresh charcoal for each table.
Gas-flame heating – Instead of letting the charcoal burn naturally, they used a gas flame on high heat to force it. This caused the meat to burn instantly on the outside while becoming tough, dry, and flavorless on the inside.
Rude service – When we politely asked them to grill more slowly, the server was visibly unhappy and dismissive.
No water served – Water was never offered or brought to the table, which is unusual for any Korean restaurant.
Forgotten orders – They forgot part of our order, and we had to remind them multiple times.
Cash only – They did not accept credit cards, which is very uncommon in a busy tourist area like Myeongdong. This felt like a way to trap tourists.
What really stood out: Just a few shops up the street, there was another BBQ restaurant full of local Korean customers. This place was filled with only tourists – and now I understand why.
Do yourself a favor – walk those extra few meters and eat where the locals eat. This restaurant is a classic tourist trap with poor quality and worse service.
