I recently visited The Red Chimneys Buffet at Prudential Hotel and was very disappointed with the experience. First, the seating arrangement was terrible — our table was placed right under a strong air-conditioning vent, and the cold draft made it uncomfortable to sit through the meal. The manager came over and politely explained that the air conditioning couldn’t be adjusted but offered to move us to another table. I appreciated his effort, but since I wanted to stay with my family, we didn’t move. Still, a table shouldn’t be placed in such an unpleasant spot. What really ruined the lunch was the incident at the Peking duck counter. The male chef only gave me two tiny strips of duck, definitely not a full serving. When I politely asked for a little more, he refused and said, “Each person gets one portion — you need to line up again.” There was literally no one else in line! When I stepped back and forward jokingly to “rejoin” the queue, he ignored me completely and walked away. His colleague eventually apologized and served me properly, but that chef never acknowledged or apologized for his behaviour. For a hotel buffet, this kind of rudeness and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I’m not asking for compensation, but I do hope management takes this seriously and addresses the staff’s attitude so other guests won’t experience the same.
