Had their set lunch menu at $38 per person, excluding service charge and GST. You can choose one starter, a pasta or main, and a dessert of the day. For the starter, I had the surf clams. They were good and quite unique, as I do not usually have clams, so it was nice to try something different. The salad, sauce, and vegetables complemented the dish well. However, compared to my dish, the fried chicken portions looked larger and more appealing. For the main, I chose the sakura chicken with wild mushrooms instead of pasta. Initially, I thought it would come with rice, but it did not, so it felt a little odd having just the main dish on its own (quite a bit of sauce wasted). That said, the sauce for the sakura chicken was very flavourful and delicious. It also came with mushrooms and a decent portion of potatoes, which I suppose makes up for the carbs. It worked out fine for me, as I am trying to cut down on rice intake. The dessert served was red velvet cake. It was fluffy and pleasant, though it felt somewhat light, which made it come across slightly less premium. The environment is nice, and the staff are very friendly and polite. My group of five dined at Restaurant Espoir on 13 March 2026, and unfortunately the experience was quite disappointing. We had pre-ordered all food, desserts, and drinks in advance. When we arrived, all the dishes had already been placed on the table under the air-conditioning and were cold. No staff greeted us or explained the situation, which made the start of the meal awkward. I had ordered a vegetarian pasta with several dietary restrictions (no meat, seafood, garlic, onion, chive, scallion, leek, etc.). The dish served had what appeared to be scallion or chive on top. After asking the staff to check, they simply said they would make another one. The replacement dish that arrived turned out to be a different pasta (mushroom), which I did not mind, but no explanation was given. Dessert service was also confusing. We had ordered four desserts but cancelled one. Only one dessert initially arrived. After multiple follow-ups and waiting periods, the remaining desserts came one by one with limited updates from staff. Finally, the bill charged my pasta at the price of King Prawn Pasta ($26) even though what I received was a mushroom pasta ($19). When we raised this, the staff said it was their policy to charge the king prawn pasta price because they do not normally allow customizations. Overall, the experience suffered from poor communication, slow service recovery, and a billing approach that did not feel fair. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Dinner
