An elegant and memorable fine dining experience at Patt Restaurant. I never expected to find such a beautiful hidden gem inside an old printing house building on Chan Road. From the outside, the building looks simple and old-fashioned, but once you step inside, the atmosphere completely transforms — it feels like dining in a charming French restaurant somewhere in France or Switzerland. Every dish was beautifully presented and thoughtfully crafted, with excellent balance of flavors and attention to detail. The lobster dish and chocolate soufflé were standout highlights. The staff were professional, friendly, and communicated fluently in English, making the entire experience feel warm and welcoming. Perfect for special occasions — whether for couples, family gatherings, dinners with friends, or even a fully private event. Tip: reservations are required at least 5 hours in advance, and the restaurant does not accept walk-ins. When you enter a place such as this, you know you‘re in for something special. And very special is Restaurant Patt indeed! Nestled in one of the most unlikely neighbourhoods of Bangkok—a place that doesn’t even hint at fine dining—away from the bustling business district, we were greeted by the hostess in front of a typical Thai townhouse. She graciously led us up the lift—to the third floor—and we were transported to a different world. A dining hall, reminiscent of a grand restaurant in a Parisian train station, Restaurant Patt is an unexpected gem, starkly juxtaposing the bustling, truly local lives outside. We were shown to our table, napkins promptly placed on our laps, and we chose our drinks. The decorations were a mix of remnants and modern replications of an almost-extinct local practice of decade-old book publishing, already telling the story of the building's past. Amusing was amuse-bouche that paints the picture of the entire course, reflecting the very soul of „Chef Big“ Arttasith, the restaurant’s Chef Owner, a Swiss-trained talent of Chinese descent. We enjoyed a 8-course food galore, served impeccably, from cold starters to lobster, to a mille-feuille of lotus root and foie gras that reminded me somewhat of beef Wellington, minus the beef. The highlight for me was the fish maw soup—nothing like the kind you find from street vendors. The full course can be summarised into a perfect marriage between French gastronomy and a Chinese banquet. I was amazed by how the “French” cuisine was presented in a sequence akin to a Chinese banquet, bringing back fond memories of my childhood growing up in a Thai-Chinese family, but on a whole different level. Being a Bangkokian, I am thoroughly impressed by the entire experience: the journey through small, dark alleys off the main streets, the restaurant itself, the service, and most importantly the food.
