The River Kwai Hotel is great, but there's only one problem. The associated Rim Kwai Bar&Cafe is the only restaurant, minus a cafe, within a considerable distance. So, if you are staying at the hotel and need dinner, you'll be eating here. So, how bad is it? Well, we ate twice. Lunch and dinner. Both were exceptionally bad, and the worse part, it's the top end of what you'll pay at a nice Thai restaurant -- nearly 900 baht, no alcohol, for 3 average size plates at dinner. The only reason we went to dinner, to reiterate my point, was because there's nowhere else to eat, so it turned into a game of -- how bad can this dish be? The common denominator is the food is not fresh. It tastes like it was frozen and reheated in the microwave. It's bland. It's overpriced, yada yada yada, you get the point. Now, is really all about the food? If I was backpacking in the Andes, no. But for a relaxing vacation at a luxury hotel, it's very important! I'm checking out tomorrow, and I'll be eating there once again, this time for 'breakfast'. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ฿800–900
