Out of hundreds of cafes in Chiang Mai, SATO is always the one I choose. Food and ingredients are just beautiful, and they honestly don’t need any clever marketing to prove it because it is by the same lovely owner as Yasumi Cafe. I mean, how wonderful does a place have to be for me to follow them absolutely everywhere like this? Jasmine Smoked Salmon is utterly brilliant. It is so fragrant, beautifully succulent, and not dry in the slightest. With just a delicate hint of saltiness, a gentle squeeze of lemon over the top makes it absolutely perfect. They spread a bit of pesto sauce and cream cheese on the plate too, which adds such a lovely rich depth to the flavour and aroma. Then there is the sourdough, toasted to a beautiful crisp, which gives it a fantastic texture. This dish is simply superb. Every other dish was wonderful too. Space itself is so pretty, cosy, and relaxing, with such a lovely atmosphere. Staff are incredibly sweet, gentle, and so efficient. Food is served quickly, beautifully presented, and in generous portions, which is so typical of the owner. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but it is well worth the effort. If you truly want to go, you will always find a way. My friend even parked somewhere else and hired an electric scooter just to get there. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The first time we came here for breakfast, we were impressed with the quality of food and coffee. We ordered the fish bowl and the fish dish that came with the sourdough slice, banana bread and drinks. We were disappointed the next time round possibly because the place was packed and the staff were struggling to keep up. The Jasmine smoked fish was nice but too much skin. The fried chicken wrap tasted like chicken from KFC mixed with some corn kernels and wrapped up. The ricotta pancake was ok served with cream that was still frozen, berry compote and Icecream. My companion found it too eggy. The staff forgot about our drink orders and we had to go up to the counter and remind them twice. They were really busy. We were ready to leave and they still hadn’t done the hojicha and then walked out to hand us a free croissant to apologise. Service recovery on point.
