Donkey, Aerin & I, had initially planned to dine at a yakiniku restaurant but opted to try this outlet instead as it has pur favorite makgeolli. Regrettably, our experience fell short of expectations and we left feeling we should have proceeded with our original choice which would also have been significantly more affordable. Food Quality We ordered the SGD 128 beef set, comprising Nuruk So Anchangsal, Gwangyang Bulgogi and Mul Naengmyeon alongside steamed rice and Jinro makgeolli. - The beef was particularly disappointing: lacked the tenderness and depth of flavour one would reasonably expect at this price point. - The steamed rice was also substandard: unpleasantly over‑sticky and soggy rather than having the separate, fluffy texture we anticipated. - The cold noodle was refreshing and the makgeolli as expected, while side dishes were fresh and replenished regularly, though otherwise unremarkable. Service Staff remained polite, attentive and efficient throughout our meal, tending to the grill and attending to requests promptly this was the strongest element of our visit. Value for Money Our final bill totalled SGD 184.53 including service charge and GST. For this amount, the quality of both the beef and steamed rice we received was unsatisfactory, and we consider the meal overpriced in comparison to alternative Korean barbecue and yakiniku options in the area. We have since learned from members of our cycling group that the beef set appears to be the only weak offering here the pork sets are reportedly of very good quality. Kitty, Aerin and I visited SEORAE JIB at NEX after watching the movie Toy Story 5. It had been a long time since I last dined here, and we chose this restaurant as all three of us had been craving makgeolli. We ordered the six hundred gram beef set, which included Nuruk So Anchangsal, Gwangyang Bulgogi and Mul Naengmyeon, along with two portions of steamed rice and one bottle of Jinro Makgeolli. The grand total came to one hundred and eighty four dollars and fifty three cents inclusive of service charge and goods and services tax, yet we all left the restaurant feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The beef cuts were generally acceptable in quality, and we appreciated the self‑service station for side dishes and sauces, which bore a clear reminder to take only what we can eat to avoid food waste. The cold noodles were neatly presented with a soft boiled egg, julienned vegetables and sesame seeds, though the accompanying dipping sauces for certain beef cuts were not as flavourful as those we have enjoyed at other Korean restaurants. The kimchi, braised radish and pickled vegetables served were merely average, and did not meet the standard we had anticipated. The makgeolli was served in an ordinary glass rather than the traditional chilled metal bowl or cup, which felt incorrect and disappointing. When I enquired with the staff about this, they informed me that this was their standard way of serving the drink, and offered only to bring a bucket of ice for us to soak the bottle if we wished for it to be colder. We were greatly surprised by this response. The steamed rice was overly sticky and soggy, and appeared to be improperly cooked. When I showed the rice to a member of staff and requested a replacement, they stated that the entire batch of rice was affected, and that any new serving would be identical, so they were unable to provide an improvement. We were extremely shocked by this reply from an established restaurant. While the quality of the beef was reasonable, the overall experience fell far short of our expectations, especially given the premium pricing. We hope that the management will review and improve their service standards, food preparation and attention to detail for future guests.
