黃記雲吞麵 is one of our favourite wanton noodle stalls, originally located at Depot Lane and now serving at Bukit Merah. We’ve been following them since their old spot, and the quality has remained consistently impressive. The noodles are perfectly springy, with just the right chew and texture that pairs beautifully with their savoury sauce. The wantons and dumplings are freshly made, tender, juicy, and full of flavour. You can really taste the freshness in every bite. The Char Siew complementing the noodles perfectly without being too oily. Service is friendly and efficient, even when the queue gets long during lunch hours. It’s comforting to know that even after the move, the flavours we love have stayed true to their roots. Blk 161 Bukit Merah Central is a 4-storey HDB block that was completed in 1980. At the ground floor is the SG Kopitiam coffeeshop that has got two nice stalls. The less famous one which I really like is 黄记 Wanton Noodle - the noodles are slightly thicker and done 'al dante' so that there is still some firmness to it. The sauce is light but still very tasty, the char siew is tender and juicy. And you can add on braised chicken feet! The more popular stall is the No. 25 Minced Meat Noodle served by young hawker-preneurs.
