SOL is one of the best places we visited in Lamai. The food is great, and the staff are usually friendly and welcoming. I’m giving 4 stars because of an experience we had today with the Salmon Cream Cheese Bagel. The bagel was extremely chewy and hard. We’ve had bagels many times before and felt this one wasn’t right. When we mentioned it, we were told that this is how it should be and that a chewy bagel is “good for the stomach,” which didn’t make much sense to us. We tried to eat it but found it difficult. When we raised the issue again, a staff member said we had almost finished it, which wasn’t true and felt a bit dismissive. To their credit, they did replace it with sourdough, which was excellent. What disappointed us most was that later the owners, who were sitting behind us, ordered the same bagel to check and discussed in front of us that there was nothing wrong with it. We respect their opinion, but it felt dismissive of our genuine feedback. Overall, still a great place that I would recommend. This experience just kept it from being a 5-star review.
