トラブルでレッスンの開始が遅れてしまった際、同時間帯にやっていた別のジャズの講師の方が「始まるまでこちらでどうぞ」とお声がけして下さり、短時間ですがとてもためになる指導をしてくれました。遅れて開始した本来のレッスンの方も時間延長してくれましたので問題なしでしま。まだレッスン通い始めて数回ですが大変素敵な場所に出会えたと思っています。

I visited SOMETHIN' Jazz Club last night during my brief trip to Tokyo, and had an amazing experience. This club was rated well, and I was looking for a place where I might sit in on bass so my wife and I set out to the Ikebukuro area to check it out. I noticed on their calendar that I was the club owner Steve's birthday, and they happened to be having a special celebration for his birthday! Steve greeted us at the door with a big smile and huge heart. Once inside we had the feeling we might be crashing his birthday party and almost left to not impose, however the community around Steve was very welcoming and warm.I really wanted a chance to check out the local jazz scene and sit in with some locals, and Steve's club did not disappoint. All of the folks sitting in we're talented and much more courteous than at clubs I've been to in the USA. It became clear that Steve is a pillar in the local music scene here, even during our short visit. He was more than hospital to a few foreigners visiting during his birthday, it's people like Steve and clubs like SOMETHIN' Jazz Club that keep the wonderful tradition of jazz alive. Happy birthday Steve, and thanks for the great experience!
