What an enjoyment ~ Having the best of both worlds with this chilli crayfish! This is the perfect dish for lazy people like myself ~ savouring and wiping the chilli crab gravy off with the deep-fried mantou buns and stuffing myself with lumps of crayfish meat without having to struggle with the cracking and peeling of flesh from crabby claws. Was in a bit of a rush to school today but decided to sneak in a quick dinner at a nearby zi char stall. I went with my go-to comfort dish—dry stir-fried beef hor fun—for $6.50. To my surprise, the plate came out in under 5 minutes. The moment it hit the table, that smoky aroma of wok hei was already teasing my nose. One bite in, and it was exactly what I was hoping for—the noodles carried that charred fragrance, with just the right balance of sweet and savory flavors. Honestly, I always feel that fried rice and hor fun are the best benchmarks to judge any zi char stall, and this one definitely passed the test. On top of that, the service was really pleasant. The auntie who took my order was friendly and even asked if I wanted my hor fun dry or wet—little touches like that make the experience nicer.
