My recent experience at Sha Tin 18 was quite disappointing. I organized a family gathering for the Winter Solstice and was advised of a rigid two-seating policy (5:30–7:30 PM or after 8:00 PM). A non-refundable deposit of $500 was also required, which felt quite inflexible. The most upsetting part was the wait for our table. My 90-year-old aunt, who walks with a cane, was forced to stand outside for more than 10 minutes because the receptionist claimed our table wasn’t ready. It was only after I insisted and raised concerns about their lack of consideration for the elderly that we were finally seated. To ensure we had the signature duck, I pre-ordered it in advance. However, when the duck soup course arrived, they only served 8 bowls for our party of 12. When I questioned this, the waitress claimed one duck only yields 8 bowls. I found it unacceptable that we weren't notified of this limitation beforehand. Interestingly, after I lodged a formal complaint, the remaining 4 bowls were miraculously provided. While the food remains as good as ever and the floor staff were generally polite, the management and training need significant improvement. The service level did not match the quality of the cuisine. This is my second visit and I cannot imagine if I will come again. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $500+ Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2
