Shantou Chuan Cheng Hotpot Zhongshan Main Restaurant is a legendary hotpot restaurant in Kaohsiung’s Xinxing District, near Formosa Boulevard/MRT 美麗島站. Established in 1943, it’s often called the first Taiwanese satay (沙茶) hotpot and remains a beloved local classic with decades of history and authentic flavors.  The restaurant is known for its rich satay-based broths such as the signature flat-fish and sha cha soup, along with a variety of other hotpot bases like Huadiao wine, sour cabbage, and spicy mala. Ingredients are fresh and plentiful—from premium meats and seafood to handmade items and vegetables—making it great for groups or family meals.  With a two-story, traditional interior and often long waits at peak hours, reservations are recommended. Diners praise the flavorful soup, generous portions, and classic atmosphere that celebrate Kaohsiung’s hotpot culture.
