TLDR: There’s a reason they’ve been around so long — they’re really good at what they do. Visited Shin-Suzume Honten for dango after school in the Osu area — there were quite a few people around, but no real waiting. They keep it simple: two types of dango — sweet or salty. No fuss system — you order, eat, and dispose of the stick. Everything is quick, efficient, and flows smoothly. I went for the mitarashi dango, and it was outstanding. The balance of sweet soy sauce and char was spot on — simple but incredibly satisfying. At just ¥100 per stick, it’s great value and the perfect snack while strolling through Osu. One of the best dango I had in Jpn, dango is grilled before adding sauce or powder, especially love the one with bean powder, chewy slightly charred and fragrant from the powder, no wonder I see people packing a dozen of it, price is very affordable at 100 yen a stick, if I am to visit Nagoya again will definitely come to eat this again. The dango is best eaten on the spot, try not to pack and go as the texture degraded when it cool down. Meal type: Other Price per person: ¥1–1,000 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
