Whenever I am visiting Taipei, I will always visit Shin Yeh Main Restaurant (欣葉台菜 創始店) for traditional Taiwanese cuisine. My most recent visit was about a month ago and I ordered all of my favorite dishes which I highly recommending. - 香烤烏魚子 (Roasted mullet roe served with turnip slices and leek) - 紅蟳米糕 (Streamed crab and roe on glutinous rice) - 香煎豬肝 (Pan-fried pork liver with coriander) - 三杯雞 (Spicy fried chicken with garlic and basil in casserole) - 台灣腸 (Taiwanese sausages) I did tried their 佛跳牆 (Steamed pork with chicken and sea cucumber in broth) for the first time but was a little disappointed by it. This dish or soup consists of many delicate ingredients and cooked over a long period of time in order to bring out its rich flavor. However, I felt that their version was more like a soy sauce gravy. As this restaurant is very popular by both locals and tourists, be sure to make a reservation first.
