The first time we had Shizen was at Seasons Village. That was an all-pork Shabu Buffet (because that was all they offered) and I was truly impressed with the quality of the meats. It was so tender and the broth was superior. Shizen is a chain restaurant, and one could find it in many places. The menu offered between outlets may differ slightly. We next tried an all-pork Shabu Buffet which included sushi located at Index Living Mall Chaiyahruke and were equally impressed. We were at Future Rangsit one day, and there we moved up the price range for a 699 buffet that included beef. As usual, no regrets, the beef was nice. We had come to regard the restaurant brand as a reliable choice, where every payment felt justified by the experience. So, finally, we moved up the echelon to try their pinnacle 899 that included Wagyu. Oh, that buttery wagyu beef, praised by food critics far and wide. I was ready to dive into the buffet and feast to my heart’s content. And suddenly the rug pulled. No way it was wagyu, and if it was, well then, wrong cow. It was too chewy, it no melting in mouth feeling. We were disappointed. Good thing was, the other meats such as pork still met expectations. The non wagyu beef brisket too. 899 buffet also included premium items like Unagi Sushi. That was a disappointment too. The eel had the texture of jelly-rubber, that which is of the lowest grade you find. Unagi lovers will know what I mean. Now, with this Shizen here, the service was a bit of a lackluster. River prawns in the menu showed it properly halved and opened for the grill. What we got was un-prep like just gotten from market. The fire from the charcoal was weak because the suction system was not drawing air well. That made the grilling of everything slow and imperfect. The service, quite difficult to get their attention. I held up my hand so long I risked getting strike by lightning from the storm brewing outside. Shizen, my advise, max to go for will be their 699 buffet. The good stops there. Writing this review, the aftertaste of that rubbery eel erupts from my memory into my tastebuds . ewwww. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ฿800–1,000 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5

Shizen Yakiniku Restaurant. Order a large set of sashimi to try. The fish is fresh, soft and delicious. The presentation is spectacular. The meat is well grilled. It is beautifully served and ready to take pictures. The sushi is good. The scallops are sweet and delicious. The shop isn't very crowded, so you don't have to wait in line. The shop is in Lotus, on the 2nd floor, next to the restroom inside. You can park right inside Lotus where there are enough cars for many people. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ฿700–800 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
