Went over to Colonial Town in Old Bangkok. It's a gorgeous area, very redolent of say parts of Amsterdam. Tree-lined canal, tree-lined side streets, all really pretty and a lovely park. Funnily enough those side streets are filled with gem-cutters workshops and where not gunsmiths. The reason I was in the area was to visit Simiao Kafei. I had several great coffees including one from Myanmar bean which, oddly, I'd never had the chance to try before. Anyway lots of speciality coffee chat with Jo the very knowledgeable barista, another fabulous Silpakorn graduate, but also ages of chat about maritime archaeology and "straight" archaeology. Or anything else for that matter. What a lovely afternoon. For part of the time the owners of a new coffee shop in Pattaya were there. One of the ladies offered to take my pic. For the first time in my life a pic of me I actually like! I think I look young, fun, vibrant and sexy .......... Now that really is service!
