BEWARE - Fake advertising, it say two drinks for 150baht and once we recieved the bill they say the discount is for other drinks thta were in another menu and we didn’t even recieved this menu. So we end up paying 300baht. It’s not fair, even after i said it not the good price they dont care, watch out before you go there, too bad, first time and last time!!! Service: 1

The promotion and bar service described belong to SPICY BAR, which is a separate bar located nearby and operates independently from our restaurant. Our Restaurant does not offer the drink promotion mentioned in your review. I stayed six nights at Spice Garden hotel and would easily recommend it for the positives. First, the grounds are lovely, with lush plants and ponds for the beautiful coi/carp fish, which were visible from my room 104 on the 2nd floor. Second, the rooms are not only very attractive with an “earth-tones” color scheme, but also very spacious with plenty of hidden closet space and a wide shelf that runs probably 4 meters long opposite the king-size bed and the separate small sofa or “love seat.” I was a solo traveler but I can imagine a couple or even small family staying here with ample room for all their stuff. The bathroom is beautifully designed, and, like most of the better hotels in Thailand, the toilet is flanked by a bidet nozzle & hose. The shower had a waterfall shower-head, and marble floor and walls for an upscale feeling. Regarding personnel: the staff at the reception desk, restaurant and café were very gracious, warm and welcoming. The location within the Old City walls near the Tha Phae eastern gate is ideal, perfect for all my temple (wat) visits on my self-guided walking tours on 3 of the days, starting with a very attractive wat right across the narrow lane on which Spice Garden sits. For traveling further, the Grab and Bolt taxis all know how to get here and take you wherever you like. I have only one complaint about my room (Room 104, located almost directly over the reception desk on the ground floor), and it’s a complaint perhaps irrelevant for staying in other rooms at Spice Garden: namely, it’s located near the water pump for those coi-fish ponds, and the pump intermittently makes a soft, high-pitched beeping sound (varying somewhere around 35 beeps before silence returns for a while). Ear-plugs at night muffled most of the sound for me, but other travelers staying in this particular room may be bothered by it. For some travelers it will also be relevant to note that there’s no lift / elevator up to the second floor. You ascend via some wide stairs and the steps aren’t steep. For this 71-year-young traveler it was no problem going up this single flight of stairs since I travel lightly (at check-in, my luggage consisted of an airline “carry-on” size backpack and small “over-the-shoulder” tote bag). Bottom line: I would definitely consider staying here again on any future visit to Chiang Mai. It’s really lovely here! Service: 5
