Standard Bread Singapore. Standard Bread recently made the leap from viral Korean sensation to Singapore’s competitive cafe scene, and while the "bakery-themed" decor leans into the playful (if slightly tacky) aesthetic with its spinning flour mill, the food mostly manages to outshine the hype. The Standouts. Meatballs & Mash ($19): The undisputed "champion" of the menu. While the seven meatballs have a springy, bouncy texture that elevates them above your standard IKEA fare, the mashed potatoes are the real star. Carefully torched and topped with scallions, onions, and shredded cheese, the quality feels closer to a Michelin-starred side than typical cafe food. Garlic Toast with Cream Cheese ($16): A surprising winner that lives up to the bakery's reputation, offering a satisfying balance of flavors that justifies the "viral" status. The "Okay". Wagyu Beef Bolognese ($20): A decent effort, though the beef can be a bit tougher than you’d expect for a Wagyu-based dish. The Experience. The layout can be a bit of a puzzle for first-timers. It isn't immediately clear whether you should grab a loaf, browse the spreads on the left, or head straight to the cashier on the right to order from the "brunch" (hot food) menu. Thankfully, the service is sharp enough to guide you through the confusion. Final Verdict: Despite the slightly chaotic flow and the over-the-top decor, the quality of the bread and that "Michelin-level" mash makes this a spot worth a repeat visit.
