If you are looking for good value, old-school western - this is the place to be. Portions are generous, the food tastes good and for under $10!! My personal favourite is the toast, buttered very well. The fish is battered well, flaky and tender. The chicken is also tender, a bit on the saltier side. 10/10 will be back. Food: 5

Visit date: 21 Feb 2026 Actual rating: 3.5 The only thing that's "old school" about this Western stall was the buttered triangular toasts. To start with, I didn't expect the pork chops to be partially cut up into dangling strips. While the chops were thick and bone in, they appeared to have been flash fried in hot oil! Whatever happened to the good old grilling method of cooking meaty steaks and chops?? Sunny side up egg had the requisite runny yolk, so that was ok. Shoestring fries seemed to have been coated in batter, making them feel more like waffle fries. Coleslaw was ok too, with crunchy bits of veg but slightly creamier dressing. #MHTamChiak was initially hopeful to add this nearer-to-home eatery to his "pork chops list"; turned out to be no can do! If you’re craving hearty, no-frills Western food at any hour, Star Western Food in Kovan is an absolute go-to. Open 24 hours, it’s the perfect late-night or early-morning comfort food fix. What stands out immediately is the generous portion size — you definitely get your money’s worth here. The grilled chicken is juicy and well-seasoned, served with a beautifully runny egg, crispy fries, baked beans, creamy coleslaw, and a slice of garlic toast that rounds off the plate perfectly. And all of this comes at a very affordable price, making it great value for money. Generous portions. Tasty and well-balanced plate 24-hours. Super wallet-friendly It’s classic Western hawker fare done right. I will be back. Food: 5 Price per person: SGD 1–10
