l arrived at the café before my friend at 9:40 a.m., so I ordered a coffee and pancakes while waiting. About 20 minutes later, my friend arrived, ordered a coffee, and joined me at the same table. A little while after that, a staff member came over and asked us, “How many cups of coffee did you take?” We explained that we took only what we ordered — my coffee had been ordered about 20 minutes earlier, before my friend arrived. The staff member apologized and explained that it was a misunderstanding. I understand that mistakes can happen, but it made me wonder whether customers are expected to be responsible for or aware of staff errors in situations like this. Do you let customers pick up food without checking the receipt? We are not thieves
