I was genuinely thrilled to stumble upon a hidden gem in the old housing district where I often volunteer. One day, after accompanying a homeless grandfather to purchase his heart medication, I decided to treat him and a 94-year-old grandma whom I frequently visit to an early dinner at Un Chau Estate. Grandma has lived in this neighborhood for decades, so I eagerly asked her for a recommendation on a local restaurant. To my surprise, she led us to a place that looked like a humble bakery from the outside, where I had often purchased breads and buns for home visits. Little did I know there was an actual restaurant tucked away inside! Grandma enthusiastically told us that their hot pot rice is a must-try dish. The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive to the elderly, allowing us to push Grandma in her wheelchair directly to the restaurant. They even accommodated us promptly, ensuring we could wait inside rather than brave the chilly weather outside, especially since people began lining up for the hot pot rice around 5:45 PM. As for the food, Grandma's recommendation was spot on! The hot pot rice was nothing short of extraordinary. I sampled some of Grandma’s portion, and I was immediately captivated by its pleasant aroma and flavors. It was, without a doubt, even better than the renowned hot pot rice I had experienced in Hong Kong. Typically, Grandpa would opt for a fish dish, but he was so impressed by Grandma's suggestion that he too decided to try the hot pot rice. His enjoyment was palpable; he even asked to pack the crispy, scorched rice to enjoy for breakfast the next day. This truly speaks to the quality of hot pot rice served at Sun Wui Kong Restaurant. Overall, my experience was heartwarming and absolutely delightful. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
