Supara is a fantastic central Asian restaurant in Gangneung, and a great way to try a new cuisine if you're curious. The restaurant is situated near homeplus and caters mostly to central Asian workers who live in Gangneung. It appears to be a tight knit group, but they also seem fine with newcomers, as long as you're respectable. The restaurant has plenty of seating, both with regular tables, as well as lower tables meant for sitting on the floor with. Note that these areas require you to take off your shoes, but are also very comfy and well padded. The service is good, but note the waitresses only speak Korean and Russian. The menu is the same, so basic Korean or Russian is very helpful. They're very nice and polite, so if you try your best, they will too :) The food itself is fantastic. It's a range of general central Asian dishes, and feels like a lot of dishes are home comforts. They range from kebab, to noodles (Lagman), to rice and meat dishes and others. They serve lamb, which is an instant plus for me! All of the food I've tried here has been hot, fresh and soft. The bread used to be better, but I think there's a new recipe which makes it too doughy, but it's still fine. I believe the restaurant, at least formerly, was run by people from Kyrgyzstan, so there will likely be variation from country to country on how they make these general dishes. Overall, I love this place. It's a great break from the usual food I get in Gangneung, and for a reasonable price, too. I can't recommend highly enough!
