The ice creams themselves were excellent — no complaints there at all. Swensen’s quality on the product side still holds up. However, the overall service experience at this branch fell short of what I usually expect from Swensen’s, and I don’t think this is a staff attitude issue — it feels more like a training and management issue. We waited around five minutes before anyone came to take our order. The outlet was busy, but there clearly weren’t enough staff on the floor, which points to a staffing or supervision gap rather than the fault of the young staff members running around trying to cope. Normally at Swensen’s, once you order, water and spoons arrive immediately. In our case, the ice cream arrived first, with no spoons, and we had to wait another five minutes before they were brought over — which is not ideal when your dessert is already melting. At checkout, the debit card machine didn’t work, which has never happened to me at a Swensen’s before. On top of that, staff had to search for the person carrying the iPad just to identify our table number, which again suggests a lack of clear systems or supervision. Overall, great ice cream, but the service flow and management need attention. With better staffing levels, clearer processes, and stronger supervision, this branch could easily match the Swensen’s experience customers expect.
