I’ve visited this place randomly with my wife today. At first, it’s hard to spot and seems quite discreet despite being on the street side. Gave it a leap of faith and we were very pleasantly surprised. I ordered mashed potatoes and chicken steak. My wife got clam spaghetti with herbs (Thai basil). My steak came with a salad side as well as extra mashed potatoes. I didn’t expect much, since Thailand typically has lackluster mashed potatoes - as an Eastern European I’m super sensitive to that. This time, I got served what was probably what I would make at home, minus the gravy - delicious, clearly good ingredients, fresh and homemade. I’m not used to the gravy, and in my culture we typically don’t add anything like that to mashed potatoes - but my first tasting of gravy was also delicious. You could say I tasted gravy on mashed potatoes for the first time here in this random steakhouse. The gravy itself seems to also be homemade, although I’m no gravy expert. Spaghetti was perfect for my Thai partner - and she’s a picky eater. About service. Personally, I misread the owner from the get go and had this impression that he was quite eccentric in a weird way. But then later I sort of understood that he has an excellent service mind, confidence and the dishes back it all up. I was told that he’s exceptionally humble and service-minded in Thai as well. He asked me how my dish was. I gave him a passionate nod with cheeks exploding from mashed potatoes and gravy. Marvellous. For fellow farangs, don’t be scared of the worn interior. Leave a tip if you can, because honestly for the quality, service and taste the owner should be charging at least double. The total bill for what’s in my pictures and video was.. 190 baht. I’m picky, used to work in 5-star hospitality in central Bangkok and all over, never leave reviews like this, I have no motive - go to Tabor if you miss no nonsense meat, mashed potatoes and veggies. I just guarantee you won’t be disappointed. HIDDEN GEM, YOU’RE WELCOME.
