Initial Impression Finding truly authentic Mexican food in Japan can feel like a treasure hunt, so when we walked into TacoMia in Fukuoka, we were cautiously optimistic. One bite in, and we just looked at each other like okay, this is the real deal. The place has that energetic neighborhood taqueria vibe—casual, welcoming, buzzing with good music and great smells coming off the grill. Memorable Details Everything hit. The portions were perfect—not oversized, just balanced and satisfying. The cheeses, the spices, the fresh ingredients, the house salsas honestly epic. You can tell there’s real care behind the food. The tortillas tasted fresh, the meats were packed with flavor, and every salsa had its own personality. The kind of place where you immediately start planning what you’ll order next time before you’ve even finished eating. As full-time travelers, we’ve eaten Mexican food all over the world—from taco trucks to little spots in Mexico itself—and TacoMia genuinely impressed us. Sitting there in Fukuoka, hearing a mix of Japanese around us while crushing tacos and delicious quesadillas and salsa, felt like one of those random travel wins you never forget. If you’re in Fukuoka and craving authentic tacos, do not skip TacoMia. Whether you’re an expat missing home, a traveler needing a break from ramen, or just someone who loves incredible food—this place delivers. Highly, highly recommended.
