The shop is no-frills, but the moment the steaming claypot hits your table you know you’re in for something special. I ordered their crocodile soup. It’s very tasty, and you can tell they don’t skimp on the herbs. The crocodile chunks are meaty and almost chicken-like, but the broth is where the depth is. It’s full of herbal flavors that are bold yet balanced – slightly sweet from red dates, earthy from codonopsis, with a peppery kick that lingers. If you’re new to exotic soups, this is an easier entry point than turtle, and glad we tried. Portions are generous for the price. Service is quick and the friendly owner remembers your order.
