3.75/5 Visited Tatsu for my birthday and decided on the Seafood Set B. Overall, it was a pleasant meal with quality ingredients, but for almost S$390 for three people, I left feeling it didn’t quite justify the premium price. The teppanyaki seafood was generally well executed. The lobster tail, tiger prawns and cod were all cooked nicely, remaining moist and tender without being overdone. However, I felt the seasoning, particularly on the lobster and cod, was too heavy-handed and one-dimensional, masking much of the seafood’s natural sweetness instead of allowing the quality of the ingredients to shine. The mixed mushrooms were enjoyable, but the Hokkaido scallops were a disappointment. Although they were large, they lacked the sweetness I usually expect from good Hokkaido scallops, and the seasoning only detracted from the scallops, which were already lacking in sweetness. There was also some inconsistency with the cod. My piece was excellent, but the other portion appeared to come from nearer the belly. It had around seven to eight small bones and definitely tasted fishier than mine. The lobster miso soup was fairly ordinary, while the seafood fried rice was lightly seasoned and pleasant without leaving much of an impression. Dessert was a slice of cake, which was decent enough but not a memorable finish to the meal. Service was courteous throughout, and they kindly accommodated my request to omit the spring onions. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but I couldn’t help feeling it didn’t stand out enough for the price. While the seafood was of a higher quality, I didn’t find myself enjoying it significantly more than much more affordable teppanyaki restaurants. At this price point, I was hoping for at least one truly memorable dish, but nothing really stood out. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $100+ Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
