I've tried Texas Lone Star a couple of times now, and it's a solid, above-average Western stall for the Cantine food court. On a previous visit, I had their Deep Fried Chicken Steak ($9.30), which was a huge, crispy, and satisfying cutlet, though a bit too flourful, but it is still a good, reliable choice. On my most recent lunch, I ordered their signature Chicken Cordon Bleu w Garlic Butter Sauce ($9.80). I didn't study the menu picture, and I have to be honest, I was completely taken aback when the dish arrived. I was expecting the classic Cordon Bleu: a fried chicken cutlet stuffed with ham and cheese, designed for that flowing cheese pull. Instead, what I received was a grilled chicken chop topped with a creamy garlic butter sauce. After I got over the initial confusion (it's definitely misnamed!), the dish itself was actually very good. The grilled chicken was tender enough, the sauce was savoury and flavourful, and the sides were well-prepared—the corn was especially buttery and aromatic, and the coleslaw was decent. I'm giving it a solid 4 stars because the food they serve is genuinely tasty and above average for a food court. But buyers, be warned: if you are craving a traditional fried and stuffed Chicken Cordon Bleu, this is not it. If you're happy with a good grilled chicken chop, then you'll enjoy this.
