Visited The Fat Duck (ข้าวต้มเป็ดอ้วน (เจ้าเก่า) สำราญราษฎร์) for an early dinner, arriving around 5:00 pm shortly after the restaurant opened at 4:30 pm. From the outside, it’s a very unassuming local establishment that you could easily walk past. During my visit, I hardly saw any tourists—almost everyone dining there was a local, which is usually a good sign. A local friend recommended trying their signature braised duck, so I ordered it with rice. I have to admit, the dish didn’t look particularly appetising when it arrived, but the first bite completely changed my impression. The duck was incredibly tender, and the meat was beautifully seasoned with rich, savoury flavours that had clearly developed from hours of slow braising. It was one of those dishes where the taste far exceeded its appearance. Sometimes, the best food isn’t found in trendy restaurants but in long-standing local eateries like this.
