Truly the best private dining experience! Chef Simon and his wife are truly consummate hosts, and warmly welcomed us into their lovely home for an exceptional, Peranakan feast. We were treated to an amazing spread of hearty and authentic dishes that stayed true to Chef Simon's heritage. Every dish was packed with flavour and we would even say, the best Peranakan food we've ever had. Chef Simon's passion and love for cooking really shines throughout, and it made for a memorable feast for both the eyes and our palates. Special thanks to Chef Simon and his wife who were also absolutely lovely and gracious in accommodating our two youngest guests - even helping to babysit them so we could enjoy our meal, and letting them play with their adorable pet dog, Guinness, which they absolutely loved! We would definitely recommend their private dining experience to anyone - you won't be disappointed! And thank you once again, Chef Simon, for an unforgettable dinner! We had a fantastic experience dining at Chef Simon’s place. His culinary skills are outstanding. Very authentic Peranakan dishes, had a great variety of dishes and rich flavour, every dish was a strong hit. We got a chance to meet their beautiful friendly dog Guinness. Chef Simon is also very accommodating to our requests. The food portions were very generous, our stomachs were so filled. Lastly, Chef Simon’s place is very well-maintained, classy and welcoming. This private dining experience has been the best we had thus far - elegant dining space with a communal space that the guests can roam freely throughout our meal. Truly blessed to have tasted his culinary skills - thank you so much! We definitely recommend this to anyone who’d love to have a taste of exquisite Peranakan food with great hospitality. The Flying Chef Private Kitchen is the place to go for if you love traditional Peranakan food. The dishes are better than some of the peranakan restaurants in the east where the private dining is located. It is the home of Chef Simon who is also a commercial airline pilot. I personally like the Kueh Pie Tee that comes with self prepared chilli sauce. The Ayam Buah Keluak is another dish that is very nicely done as the chicken thigh is braised to perfection, with chicken meat tender and well soaked in the mildly spicy tamarind gravy. Chef Simon has used the recipes handed from his grandma. For his preparation of the dishes, he doesn’t follow a standard recipe. According to Chef Simon, each time he buys the ingredients, they may taste different and adjustments need to be made to bring out the full complexities of the dish. All the spices are painstakingly hand pound rather than using blender for rempah preparation to bring out the full texture and the aroma of the spices. The ambience is cosy with warm lighting. Table setup is nicely done with batik (similar to SQ kebaya print) tablecloth and rose folded cloth napkins (which also have nice fragrance). You will also experience the warm hospitality of Chef Simon and his wife Jeanette who shared with us how they started this private dining. Overall, you feel as if you have just experienced the business class of our national carrier, well prepared traditional cuisine by a chef with great culinary skill and warm hospitality.
