Weekend brunch with a side of poolside escape There aren’t many poolside restaurants in Hong Kong, and The Grill at Grand Hyatt makes the most of its setting. Baby palm trees, giant umbrellas, and the soft hum of weekend swimmers – it feels like a mini resort escape without leaving Wan Chai. Tables are well spaced, and even the glassware has been swapped for sturdy plastic (smart move – the sea breeze is real). The vibe is relaxed, unfussy, and genuinely lovely. All that’s missing is a swim‑up bar. I came for their “A Taste of Argentina” brunch, a limited‑run theme that runs through 28 June. The Grill changes its buffet lineup regularly, so there’s always a reason to return. Here, the focus is on open‑flame asado – and it delivers. The buffet is split into 5 zones: bread, chilled seafood and salad, charcoal‑grilled meats and seafood, other cooked food as sides (pasta, meatballs, nuggest, etc) and desserts. Seafood on ice Lobster, crab legs, prawns – all fresh, briny, and beautifully chilled, tasting cleanly of the sea. The asado section The beef ribs were the real star – fire‑grilled until charred on the outside, impossibly tender and juicy inside. No sauce needed. The squid was another highlight: plump, smoky, and perfectly cooked. Grilled salmon also impressed, while the Argentine chorizo added a spicy, fatty punch. Empanadas were warm and flaky – classic comfort. Drinks The HK$738 brunch doesn’t include free‑flow champagne, but you can add it for a supplement. There’s also a solid selection of wines, cocktails, and smoothies – the mango smoothie is a lifesaver on a hot afternoon. Service Warm, efficient, and genuinely friendly – from the hostess to the team clearing plates and refilling water. Attentive without being intrusive. Final verdict Three and a half hours of poolside grazing, live DJ, and seriously good Argentine grilling. I left overstuffed and already planning my next visit. Price per person: HK$500+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very Disappointing buffet experience for Muslim! When booking, there is a section of dietary restrictions, where you can add no pork. The issue is ALL and I mean all of its grilled seafood/meat items are grilled on the same Grill as the ones where Pork is being cooked and hence definetely cross contamination. When we asked the chef, the chef did not really make any effort to accomodate us but rather just said all grill used to cook Pork. We paid in total HKD 900ish for the buffet and 1 drink and if you are Muslim and think that Grand Hyatt is accomodating especially where they promote that their meat are halal, DONT GO, unless you only want to eat cold seafood and some desserts for HKD 738! Best and more accomoding five stars hotel is Shangri’La Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
