I dropped by The Local Cafe at Space@Kovan recently, and it really reminded me of a modern take on the traditional kopitiam. The space feels clean yet still keeps that nostalgic charm, making it a cosy little spot to relax. I ordered their kaya butter toast with kopi, and it was just what I needed—crispy toast, creamy kaya, and a perfectly balanced brew. Prices are affordable (most items under $10), so it’s easy to enjoy a hearty breakfast without overspending. The menu also includes nasi lemak, and a range of toasts, which makes it ideal whether you’re in the mood for something light or filling. Service was friendly and welcoming, though during peak hours it does get a little busy. Overall, I’d recommend this café if you’re around Kovan—it’s a comfortable and affordable place for a quick breakfast, casual meet-up, or even a solo coffee break.
