Amazing staff. I thank all the staff that served us, not even one person bring the staff quality less than 5 star. Everything is very cool in this hotel, but bring ear plugs for the night. We stayed in a bungalow and if the birds decide to chirp at 5 in the morning, you will hear it as it is near your bed. Unfortunately bungalows don’t have the best sound isolation. Service: 5

Very poor housekeeping services, we called multiple times to ask them for room cleaning but there is no proper response. The property is very nice, they have a nice beach, good pools and a restaurant with nice view. But very bad service. It has been just one day and we are here for 2 more days. Service: 1

The Fair House Beach Resort & Hotel, Koh Samui เดอะ แฟร์ เฮ้าส์ บีช รีสอร์ต แอนด์ โฮเทล เกาะสมุย I booked this stay for my girlfriend’s birthday during Christmas week, when Koh Samui hotel prices are usually high. Most rooms here were around 3,500 THB+ per night, but Agoda sent me a Platinum Member deal: 2 nights in one room category and 1 night in a higher category for about 2,010 THB per night after taxes. At that price, expectations were realistic. Fair House still exceeded them. Let’s get this out of the way early: this hotel is old. And also… very nice. The staff were exceptional — some of the friendliest I’ve experienced in over 5 years of traveling Thailand. Warm smiles, welcome drinks, good English, clear directions, and genuine professionalism. I never once saw a staff member distracted on their phone. The property itself is huge — lush, jungle-like, beautifully paved, and well lit at night. Walking it is scenic… and exhausting — which is why the free golf cart service is a lifesaver. Staff regularly ask if you’d like a ride, and after one long walk on day one, we happily accepted every time. First Two Nights – Old, But Clean (and Comfortable) Our first room was very old — but importantly, very clean. This is not a “dirty old hotel.” It felt like staying in a wealthy tropical grandparent’s guest room: dated, spacious, solid, and well maintained. There was nearby renovation noise until around 5pm, but we were out most of the day and didn’t want to complicate a birthday trip. Hot water wasn’t working at first, but maintenance fixed it within 5 minutes after one call. The bed was comfortable, the room was large, the balcony overlooked pools and jungle greenery, and we slept well both nights. Full amenities were provided, including toiletries, umbrellas, towels, and more. Breakfast (Where They Truly Won Us Over) Breakfast is served at an older-style beachfront restaurant — again, old but clean, relaxed, and welcoming. You can sit near the buffet or closer to the beach, with pools right beside the restaurant. Food quality was good, and there are multiple coffee machines, so no long lines. On my girlfriend’s birthday, the staff surprised her by singing Happy Birthday (with enthusiasm and extra verses ) and presenting a large slice of chocolate cake with candles. They wrote Happy Birthday beautifully in frosting on the plate — simple, elegant, and very thoughtful. Completely unprompted, and it meant a lot. Breakfast on the final morning even had a few additional items added to the buffet, which was a nice touch. Getting Around The hotel offers a shared minivan to central Samui for 80 THB per person, which we used. Clean, air-conditioned, and very convenient. Final Night – The Payoff For our third night, we changed rooms as part of the Agoda booking. After a day out, we returned and were driven by golf cart toward the beach — past renovated buildings and villas. Then came the surprise. We were escorted to a newly renovated, villa-style ground-floor room directly beside the pool, about: • 12 meters to the pool • 25 meters to the restaurant • 35 meters to the beach This was not the room shown in the booking photos — it was a major upgrade. The bathroom was enormous, with natural rock integrated into the walls and floor, plus a bathtub and separate shower. The terrace had large wooden chairs right next to the pool and was incredibly relaxing. We slept excellent that night — quiet, comfortable, and zero issues. Checkout & Final Thoughts Checkout was smooth and easy. Fair House doesn’t pretend to be new — and it doesn’t need to. What it offers is: Outstanding staff A beautiful, massive jungle-style property Excellent value (especially with a deal) Thoughtful gestures that feel genuine And a slow-burn experience that ends on a high note Old? Absolutely. Charming, generous, and memorable? Without question. An easy 5-star stay, and I’d happily return.
