This place is a rare gem!! Their Thai seafood salad is very fresh (both the squid and shrimp) and not too pricey. Their beer is much cheaper than those expensive restaurant plus the view. Their staff is super attentive and friendly. Super recommend!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We’ve been coming here for a few days now, and overall we’ve had a really great experience. This is not a Michelin-level restaurant—and it’s clearly not trying to be, which is completely fine. That’s not their focus. It’s more of a relaxed beach bar where you can also enjoy good food, and in that context, it does a very solid job. The food is tasty, and what stood out to me was their approach to service. I asked if they could add chili to my bacon cheeseburger, and they even followed up by asking whether I wanted dried chili or fresh. I went with fresh, and it was a really nice touch. Small details like this show how accommodating and attentive they are. The setting is absolutely beautiful. Being located right on Crystal Beach—one of the most stunning beaches on Koh Samui—really elevates the whole experience. All in all, if you come here with the right expectations, you’ll likely leave very satisfied. The current rating doesn’t quite reflect the experience we had. My daughter and I stayed at Thongtakian Resort for two weeks and ate at the Thongtakian Restaurant almost every day. I truly cannot understand the negative reviews. The staff are exceptionally friendly, warm, and incredibly hard-working. Even while working long hours in the heat, they were always smiling, attentive, and professional. As a mother traveling alone with my daughter, I felt genuinely welcomed and cared for. The food and drinks were always fresh, generous, and served quickly. Everything tasted authentic and consistently good. Crystal Bay itself can feel very crowded, loud, and full of tourists baking in the sun, but the restaurant remains a place of calm kindness within that bustle. I would much rather have heartfelt service and good food than a fancy interior with a lifeless atmosphere. Thank you to the entire team for making our stay feel so much more personal and special.
