I am going to be upfront and say that my review for this outlet is biased and based on a very pleasant exchange that I have had with one of the shop staff going by the name of May, an auntie probably in her fourties. Having been several times to their outlets, I am bothered by the fact that a good number of their curry puffs on display tend to look like they have been in the fryer for too long, with soot-like patches and scuffs on their surface. When May greeted me and prompted me on what I would like to order, I asked her if she could help me pick out some nicer looking curry puffs. To my pleasant surprise, she was accommodating and obliged my request without a hint of displeasure in her response or disdain in her countenance. After sharing with May that the curry puffs were meant for my mother, someone who is rather fussy and exacting when it comes to the outward appearance and condition of whatever she eats or buys, May humored me and validated my needs by saying that she could relate to my mother's idiosyncrasies, presumably as a mother herself. She added that she will do her best to help and even patiently showed me the ones she picked before packing them. Now that is service from the heart, quite unlike grumpy, irritable service staff who would protest in the face of such requests, saying "they are all the same, so there is no need to choose!", and refuse to help. An employee like that is a valuable asset to any company, and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves from Tip Top's management. Incidentally, this outlet is one of their seemingly more hygienic and well-maintained ones. I dared not try their curry puffs prepared at their Bugis outlet as it looked cramped, greasy with their deep fryer full of dark looking oil, which can only mean that it has been used for some time. Frying oil being exposed to roadside pollutants and hot temperatures outside of the mall is also likely to have deleterious effects on health upon consumption. In terms of texture, the pastry skin of their curry puffs, priced at $2.2 each for both sardine and curry chicken flavours, sit somewhere between the crisp curry puffs that you can typically find from a Malay food stall and the unctuous flakiness of Old Chang Kee's curry puffs. I find that there is something to love for both extremes of the pastry skin spectrum, so I enjoyed every bite of Tip Top's curry puffs. The fillings of Tip Top's curry puffs are less dry and more piquant, presumably from the use of more spices, than Old Chang Kee's. Be that as it may, Tip Top's curry puffs are discernibly smaller than Old Chang Kee's and filled less generously with ingredients, yet that does not deter the former from pricing their curry puffs 20 cents more than Old Chang Kee, i.e., $2 for a curry puff. Therefore, I am withholding my wholehearted recommendation for Tip Top's curry puffs if value is of utmost importance.

The curry puff is getting smaller and crust thicker. The nasi lemak is not bad. Packaging is good.

The aunties working here are always so polite and patient. Even when the store is busy, they still serve customers with a smile really appreciate their great attitude!!!Really makes my day happy
