大鳥居駅近くの住宅街にある「とんかつ あら重」さん。昔ながらの佇まいで、まさに地元の知る人ぞ知る定食屋さんといった雰囲気です。 今回はディナーで「ヒレカツ定食（並）」を注文。お値段は1,500円です。 メインのヒレカツは、写真の通り衣がしっかりと立っていてサクサクとした食感。お肉自体も柔らかく、丁寧に揚げられているのが伝わります。セットには山盛りキャベツ、お味噌汁、冷奴、お新香、そして大盛り無料のご飯が付き、ボリューム面では十分満足できる内容でした。自分で胡麻をすってソースを合わせるスタイルも、香ばしさが加わって良いですね。 ただ、ディナーの「並」で1,500円という価格設定を考えると、昨今の物価高を差し引いても、このエリアの定食としては「妥当〜やや強気」な印象も受けます。味は確かですが、飛び抜けた個性や驚きがあるというよりは、安心して食べられる「近所の美味しいとんかつ屋さん」という立ち位置でしょうか。 接客は家庭的で温かく、落ち着いて食事ができるのは大きな魅力です。わざわざ遠方から訪れるというよりは、地元の方が美味しい揚げ物でしっかり夕食を済ませたい時に重宝する、安定感のある一軒だと思います。 "Tonkatsu Araju" is located in a residential area near Otorii Station. With its old-fashioned appearance, it has the atmosphere of a local teishoku (set meal) spot that only those in the know would frequent. For dinner, I ordered the "Hire-katsu Teishoku (Standard)" for 1,500 JPY. The main dish, the fillet cutlet, had a beautifully crispy breading, as seen in the photo. The meat itself was tender, and you could tell it had been fried with great care. The set came with a generous mound of cabbage, miso soup, hiyayakko (chilled tofu), pickles, and rice (with free large portions available), making it very satisfying in terms of volume. I also enjoyed the style of grinding your own sesame seeds to mix with the sauce, as it added a nice toasted aroma. However, considering the 1,500 JPY price for a "Standard" dinner set, even accounting for recent price hikes, it feels "fair to slightly on the high side" for a set meal in this area. While the taste is definitely solid, rather than having a standout uniqueness or surprising element, it feels more like a "reliable and delicious neighborhood tonkatsu shop." The service is warm and homey, and the ability to dine in a calm environment is a big plus.
