Generally a nice restaurant, the food is usually great but can be a bit too strong and oily. The staff are very nice, friendly and polite. The atmosphere is peaceful and comfortable. Recommend. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $250–300 Vegetarian options: There are some vegan options if you like. Speak to the staff and they will kindly give some suggestions Dietary restrictions: Everything is nicely labeled on the menu, for example there's some labeled spicy and some labeled seafood free Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options: Free of charge parking lot, Paid parking lot, Paid street parking Parking: There are a lot of parking spots but to access the 5 hour free parking slot you have to be a HKJC member Kid-friendliness: I do not recommend bringing your kids here since the vibe here is mostly for elderly and adults to have a quiet, peaceful chat while drinking hot tea Wheelchair accessibility: People with wheelchair are allowed here and I definitely recommend it. The will be in for a peaceful treat.

Topaz is one of Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Chinese restaurants at the Happy Valley Racecourse. Besides racing days, it only serves lunch during the weekend on non-racing days. The main dining room on 7/F is very spacious with a great view of the racecourse. Dining tables are separated by partitions with much privacy. Servers are mostly part-times who are unfamiliar with anything, including taking orders, opening wine bottles, and putting away dirty dishes from the table; unprofessional is an understatement. Food quality is inconsistent, with fusion dishes served on racing days being much better than the lukewarm dimsum lunch available on non-racing days. Highly recommend the flavorful Deep-fried Eggplant with Sakura Shrimps, Pork, Salted Fish (HK$148), the crispy yet tender Shallow-fried Crispy Chicken with Shallots and Spring Onion Oil (HK$408/whole chicken), and the tasty Stewed Beef Brisket with Chinese Chives and “Sichuan” Green Peppercorns (HK$528), which are all only available on racing days.
