Last night, I visited this bar and had an experience that left much to be desired. The Thursday night cover charge was $25, which included one house pour drink. While I understand the need for businesses to make ends meet, this felt quite steep, especially considering the additional expectation to tip the drag performers. The performances themselves were, unfortunately, not up to the standard I expected. It seemed as though the performers were more comfortable treating the stage as their personal living room, rather than a professional venue. Whilst this might be entertaining for the Little groupies, the business actually needs paying customers . The lack of polish and cohesion in the acts was noticeable and detracted from the overall experience. One queen in particular was quite gorgeous, and I just wanted more from them. A significant issue was the stage setup. It is positioned in such a way that crossing the club becomes a hassle, and patrons are subjected to heckling from the performers for merely trying to get from one side to the other. This layout disrupts the flow of the evening and makes it difficult for guests to enjoy their time without feeling like they're intruding on the show. Adding to the disappointment was the DJ, who switched tracks every 30 seconds. It was impossible to get into a song before it abruptly changed, disrupting the vibe and making it hard to enjoy the music. This venue has a unique opportunity to build a business up from nothing, but that’s going to take integrity, commitment, hard work, and strong branding. Right now, it feels like just another venue. A more thoughtfully arranged stage, away from the main dance floor, could alleviate the current problems and create a more enjoyable environment for everyone. Additionally, a bit more professionalism in the performances and more consistent DJing would significantly enhance the experience. As someone who appreciates quality performances, I couldn't help but feel disappointed and found myself longing for the more polished shows I've experienced elsewhere. In summary, while I didn't intend to throw shade, I believe there are areas that The Tuckshop could significantly improve to enhance their patrons' experience. A bit more professionalism, a better stage setup, and more consistent DJing could go a long way in transforming this club into a top-tier venue. Sorry, guys, but you need to feel a bit of a sting on this one. Hopefully one day I will return, and I’ll be pleasantly surprised and I’ll be happy to change my review and rating.
