Tonight I ordered the 16” capriciossa pizza for the first time from Tung Chung Pizza. While the physical appearance of their shop in Sheung Ling Pei Village (10 minutes ride heading southwest on the NLB 3M bus out of Tung Chung Station) is modest inside and out, it is truly a case where “appearances are in fact, quite deceiving”! This is absolutely ONE OF THE BEST pizzas I have eaten in Hong Kong, since arriving 18 years ago. . Who knew this “gem of a pizza secret” was hiding just a 10-15 minute walk away from my front door While they don’t advertise it as such, the crust of their pizza has that fantastic consistency that your brain doesn’t quite believe it’s experiencing when you bite into the yummy crust - that amazing combo of chewy with a slight crunch (for those of you who know Boston, it reminds me of North End pizzas). The topping has the right amount of everything - green and black olives with artichoke, with such a satisfying amount of sauce and cheese. A really delicious, impressive pizza that looks good (food aesthetics are, after all, important) and has great flavours … soooo goood.
