Can’t believe I’m only discovering this bahn cuon place now, all my days wasting away while I was craving this! The prawn bahn cuon was out of this world. It was made only upon order, meaning that the freshly steamed rolls that arrived were perfectly squidgy and full of flavour. The prawns were firm and sweet while the preserved radish added umami. Like that the accompanying fish sauce was well-balanced and light-tasting. Appreciated the fresh cucumber and mint served on the side too! This dish was so good that one serving wasn’t enough.. Ordered a second plate to have there + a third to take away. The spring rolls, both fresh and fried, were equally good. There was good balance of vermicelli and prawns in the fresh spring rolls + no pork was added, which I really appreciated as I find that the meat tends to distract from the other refreshing flavours. The fried spring rolls shattered delicately with the slightest bite. Have no idea what sorcery did the kitchen cast to produce such a thin and well-fried wrapper that wasn’t oily at all. The seasoning at this restaurant lean more towards the light touch, which made the dishes very healthy-tasting and allows one to eat a lot without feeling jerlat. Am already thinking again of the bahn cuon, planning to try the chicken pho next! The friendly owners are a big plus too.
