Having been away from Taipei for quite a while, I came here today specifically for a lunch meeting with an important friend, highly recommended by a friend abroad. The interior decor is beautifully textured and tasteful, and the coffee was excellent. I initially had very high expectations. However, the breakdown in communication during the lunch service was deeply disappointing. I arrived a bit late for lunch, and since one single female customer right ahead of me took the last available seat, I had to wait outside for about 10 minutes (which was reasonable and perfectly fine). The issue started after I sat down and placed my order. The staff came back to tell me they were out of rice, so they couldn't serve the lunch set I wanted. This was despite noticing that the customer who walked in just before me had ordered the exact same meal. With no other choice, I switched to a veggie salad, only to be told moments later that it was unavailable as well. I ended up with just a cup of coffee. This series of delayed updates completely disrupted my lunch plans, forcing me to cancel on my friend and wasting both of our time, which was incredibly frustrating. Maybe sensing my frustration (I was not sure), the male staff member brought out a complimentary pudding. While I appreciate the gesture, my schedule had already been ruined; being both hungry and hot, I simply wasn't in the mood for dessert, so I left it completely untouched. The most baffling part, however, happened about an hour later. Just as I finished my coffee and was preparing to leave, the male staff member walked over and asked, "Our lunch sets are available now. Would you still like one?" If prep work required extra time, they should have been transparent from the very beginning so I could choose whether to wait, rather than offering lunch after my lunch hour had already ended and my plans had already been canceled. The space and the quality of the coffee are genuinely good, and the male staff member who assisted me was very polite throughout. I’m willing to give this place another chance in the future, but today's experience regarding service flow and empathy was honestly poor. Regrettably, giving this 2 stars. Price per person: $400–600 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
