The longer we have time away from Vivobene the more relieved we are our brother did not stay. We stayed one month to really experience the care. Well- I must share the pain and despair we felt when my brother was there. Carers who did not properly care for residents. Lies saying they would exercise patients. I would watch and see they never did this. We had to point out that my loved one needed medical attention. They never saw it !! So fraudulent. Head nurse would tell us of his “bender” days off. So unprofessional. It’s all show in front of you but behind the scene they are lazy uncaring people. If you are living there with your loved one then maybe it’s ok but there’s no way in hell would I trust this facility with my loved one. Time to tell the truth. Service: 1

My mom and I are both nurses in america and due to the neglect of my mom's siblings, and the 'caregiver' they hired, had to place my grandma who has advanced dementia with agitation in this facility, which a better word for it is a resort. We had a very limited time to place her in an appropriate facility. My mom and I toured several nursing facilities around Thailand, from Hua Hin, Bangkok to Korat, and of course Chiang Mai, and that only confirmed our first instinct that this is the ONLY place that is appropriate for my grandma. We both have dealt with dementia extensively in our nursing careers, and if you are a family member who has to face the unfortunate reality of having to place your loved one in a facility, look no further than this resort. if your family member lives in another country, and you have the means to get them here, this is the place. This resort is 10000x better, and is just in another category compared to the horrible nursing homes in america. I am not sure what nursing facilities in other countries are like. They not only have the numbers to handle someone like my grandma, but have the training to do so. Not only does this facility have the expertise to handle dementia, they have a massage parlor, Physical therapy, beauty salon, all things my grandma enjoys and was missing in her own home, she is now being treated like a movie star there, and is very happy living there. In fact, due to their expertise and kindness, she has not shown the agitation she has in other facilities. It also does not have the traditional "look" of a nursing home, but that of a resort that is more like a large condo, complete with wheelchair accessible showers, and is her own, private room. The facility has a Koi Pond, and villa for visiting family. If you want a virtual tour, there are 2 videos on youtube, one being from a vlogger named "far away fred" who has a video "the reality of Chiang mai long term care", and a video from 60 minutes featuring this facility, and if you live in the country, they of course are happy to take you on a tour. Thank you to Brad, Pascal, Nurse Gai, and the countless other staff on hand for your kindness, and my mom and i know my grandma is in the best of care . Service: 5

Vivobene Village, Doi Saket
I am an experienced traveller having lived and worked in many countries. And I have stayed in some bad places as well as good ones. In contrast to most of them, I have just had a magical week in beautiful surroundings with many and varied facilities. It is so good that I am already planning a month here as soon as possible. Let me explain.
A comfortable minibus collected me from my accommodation in Chiang Mai (North Thailand). The friendly driver gave me water, a cool towel and a garland. He transported me less than 20 kilometres to the Vivobene Village in a forest area with paddy fields and water buffalo. Arrival at the reception was welcoming in magnificent surroundings, typical of Swiss buildings and management. An electric car whisks visitors to their rooms or villas that are comfortable, quiet and spotlessly clean.
Exploring the site exposed a central lake with fountains and aquatic flowers. There was a swimming pool with a sloping entry for any with walking difficulties. The delightful colourful gardens, wheel-chair friendly, were meticulously tended. There were bamboo huts overlooking the lake and a centre with rooms for beauty care, massage, therapy and a gymnasium.
Food (mainly from their organic garden) and drinks could be sent to your room or enjoyed in a fine restaurant with a vast choice of menu and wines (and even a happy hour that I utilized!). There is a bakery offering a tempting array of goodies. Nursing and caring facilities are generously available as well as optional daily activities. I chose to start each day with a meditation session followed by exercises, led by a physiotherapist, that ended with frisby, petanque or ball games. Other activities are available: massage, trips into town or visits to many sites of interest in the rich countryside around.
Outstanding are the staff members. They are so supportive without being intrusive; they are matchless in my experience. The management philosophy became clear. Every member of a community can have a fine experience here. If you want to be pandered from head to foot if you need long-term support, if you wish to have a quiet reclusive time in retirement, a short period to recover from hospitalisation or you want to come with a group for meeting facilities, this is the place to be.
I was returned to my home in the same gentle way that I had been taken. I cannot wait to come back.
