大衆食堂なので、テイクアウトにしました。 注文した内容は、ローストダックと羊肉のカレーライス。テイクアウト用の容器に入れて貰えました。 ローストダックは、不要な油分は落とされているにも関わらず柔らかく、とても美味しかったです。 羊肉は、骨付きなので、身は少ないですが、とてもジュシーで、カレーとマッチしていました。 カレーは、キーマーカレー風でした。 かなり、お安くいただけたかと、思います。. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3 Order type: Takeaway Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100

Wai Kee Halal Restaurant is one of those Hong Kong food finds that feels like a proper local institution rather than a restaurant created for tourists. Hidden inside the Bowrington Road Market cooked food centre, this family-run halal restaurant has been around for decades, with roots going back to 1946. The speciality is Cantonese-style roast meats and hearty curries, with the roast duck and mutton curry being the two dishes I would absolutely recommend. The roast duck is particularly impressive: juicy meat, a layer of beautifully rendered fat and crisp, flavourful skin. The mutton curry is equally compelling, with tender, fall-apart mutton and a rich, aromatic curry that is made for spooning generously over rice. Their soy sauce chicken, beef curry and shrimp roe pomelo peel are also worth exploring if you’re sharing. The setting is very much part of the experience: cramped, bustling and wonderfully local, with shared tables and the energy of a busy Hong Kong market. It’s not polished dining, but that’s precisely the charm. For authentic halal Cantonese food in Hong Kong, this is a gem. Come hungry, order the roast duck and mutton curry, and embrace the chaos.
