대만 음식 루러우판(滷肉飯)을 먹기 위해 외대앞까지 왔다. 결론부터 말하면 대성공이다. 소설과 여행기에서 읽으며 오랫동안 상상해 온 맛이 있었는데, 그 기대를 훨씬 뛰어넘었다. 짭조름하고 감칠맛 가득한 간장 양념에 먹기 좋게 썬 돼지고기를 볶아 밥 위에 듬뿍 올렸다. 왜 루러우판을 ‘밥도둑’이라고 하는지 단번에 알 수 있었다. 함께 나온 루단(滷蛋)도 훌륭했다. 흰자는 물론 노른자까지 간장 맛이 깊게 배어 있었다. 자칫 느끼할 수 있는 돼지고기 덮밥이지만 오이절임이 산뜻하게 입안을 정리해 준다. 무엇보다 인상적이었던 것은 주인장이 직접 만든 쏸차이(酸菜)였다. 밥 위에 올려 먹으니 풍미가 완전히 달라진다. 지금까지 먹어본 쏸차이 가운데 가장 맛있었다. 칠리소스 역시 직접 만든다고 한다. 매장은 깔끔하고 쾌적하다. 주인장도 친절해 음식에 대한 설명을 아끼지 않는다. 한쪽에 붙어 있는 대만 유학생의 감사 쪽지를 보니 이 집이 왜 사랑받는지 알 것 같았다. 대만 맥주 클래식도 함께 마셨다. 달콤하면서도 은은한 쌉싸름함이 루러우판과 잘 어울렸다. 좋은 음식은 메인 메뉴만으로 완성되지 않는다. 훌륭한 쏸차이와 맥주, 그리고 친절한 주인장이 있어 비로소 한 그릇의 대만이 완성되었다. 모든 루러우판이 이렇게 맛있지는 않을 것이다. 와까리꽁이 특별히 맛있다는 리뷰들이 충분히 수긍된다. 단골집 등록. I came all the way to HUFS Station to try Lu Rou Fan (滷肉飯), and it was absolutely worth the trip. The flavor exceeded the expectations I had built from years of reading novels and essays about Taiwan. Tender diced pork simmered in a deeply savory soy-based sauce covered the rice, creating a perfect balance of saltiness, sweetness, and umami. No wonder Lu Rou Fan is often called Taiwan’s ultimate comfort food and “rice thief.” The braised egg (滷蛋) was excellent as well. Even the yolk had absorbed the rich soy flavor. The traditional Chinese-style stainless steel spoon made it surprisingly easy to cut and enjoy together with the rice. What made this meal special was the balance. Rich pork can easily become heavy, but the pickled cucumber and especially the homemade suan cai (酸菜) brought freshness and acidity that lifted every bite. The owner told me the chili sauce and suan cai are made in-house. The suan cai was one of the best fermented vegetables I have ever tasted, with the distinctive mustard-green flavor beautifully preserved. The restaurant itself is bright, clean, and welcoming. The owner is warm and friendly, and small touches—such as a thank-you note left by a Taiwanese student—make the place feel genuine rather than commercial. I also enjoyed a bottle of Taiwan Beer Classic, whose gentle sweetness and slight bitterness paired perfectly with the pork and pickles. Perhaps not every bowl of Lu Rou Fan tastes this good. After eating here, I understand why so many reviews say this place is special. Wakkarikong is now firmly on my list of favorite restaurants. 身為臺灣人，我只能說老闆您做地太有臺灣味了，請大發價格雖然不便宜，但絕對是值得的：）也歡迎大家來臺灣吃美食喔！ 대만인으로서 사장님께서 너무 대만 맛을 잘 만드신다고 말할 수밖에 없네요. 대박 나세요 가격이 저렴하지는 않지만, 분명히 가치가 있습니다:) 여러분이 대만에 와서 맛있는 음식을 드시는 것을 환영해요! As a Taiwanese person, I can only say that your cooking has a strong Taiwanese flavor. Please be famous for the price, although it's not cheap, it's definitely worth it :) We also welcome everyone to enjoy delicious TAIWAN food!
