After work, I came here for their affordable and generously portioned Pratunam chicken rice. It’s clearly very popular, as there was a steady flow of customers even during dinner time. If you come here, you definitely have to try their fried chicken sauce. Personally, I think their fried chicken with this sauce is the ultimate “rice thief” — it makes you finish a whole bowl of rice in no time. The sauce is mildly spicy, but you also get a hint of sweetness when you first taste it. It balances out the greasiness of the fried chicken really well. The Pratunam-style chicken itself is light and refreshing, not greasy at all, and the skin is thin. Even the chicken breast is very tender and smooth. Besides the fried chicken sauce being such a great match for rice, the belacan sauce in the stir-fried Chinese kale is also wonderfully savory and fragrant. It has the aroma of stir-fried chili and a rich shrimp paste flavor. The restaurant even sells its own house-made belacan sauce, so if you end up loving it like I did, you can buy a jar to take home. The spicy beef tongue is served sliced and mixed with coriander, spring onions, chili powder, and other seasonings. The beef tongue has a fine, delicate texture and is very tender.
