got sikhye for doing this review! really cool that we had our own space if you’re thinking about the 4 pax set, not sure about that. the experience though there was too much to cook on our own at the same time (we had 3 stoves on at the same time for one table) and the BBQ cooking was counter-intuitive. get the individual portion instead please! Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 5

Made a dinner reservation for 14 June and was assigned a smaller corner table. While it offered some separation from other diners, it didn't feel particularly private. We ordered the set menu for two, but the table felt quite cramped once both the hotpot and BBQ grill were set up. During the meal, some oil splashed onto my arm while the staff was cooking the scallops, which was a little uncomfortable. That said, the food overall was enjoyable. It was my first time trying sikhye, and I really liked its refreshing sweetness. We also ordered a 40% alcohol soju, which was smooth and enjoyable, though definitely quite strong. Overall, the food was good and we had a pleasant dining experience despite a few minor issues. Meal type: Dinner

On 29th December 2025, I visited Woo Mool Zip Hongdae without a reservation and was offered Room 305 by the receptionist. Upon entering the room, I was immediately struck by a strong, unpleasant odor, resembling rotting meat. This raised serious concerns about the restaurant’s hygiene standards and the freshness of the food being served. I attempted to raise this issue with a nearby waitress. Unfortunately, she did not understand English and called another staff member. The second waitress, who also struggled with communication, dismissively told me, “Other rooms have reservation, can’t help you.” Her tone was rude and unprofessional, showing no willingness to address a legitimate hygiene concern. As the smell was unbearable, we decided not to dine there and began leaving. Shockingly, the waitress followed me to the stairs, raising her voice and arguing aggressively. I asked her to stop and stated I would speak directly with the receptionist. At the reception, I explained that Room 305 smelled foul and that we were leaving. Instead of acknowledging the issue, a male staff member beside the receptionist yelled at me, saying, “Hey, I don’t serve you.” in Korean. His behavior was hostile and intimidating. When I stepped outside to take photos of the restaurant exterior for documentation, the same man came out and started taking photos of us and started speaking using hostile Korean language with us, which I perceived as a form of threatening behavior. This was not only unprofessional but also deeply concerning for customer safety. Key Issues: • Hygiene: Room 305 smelled strongly of rotten meat, raising questions about food safety. • Customer Service: Staff displayed rude, dismissive, and aggressive behavior, escalating instead of resolving the odor situation. • Intimidation: A male staff member attempted to threaten me by yelling in Korean and taking photos of us outside the restaurant. I am filing this complaint to warn future visitors to Seoul about the unacceptable hygiene and customer service standards at Woo Mool Zip Hongdae. Travelers deserve safe, respectful, and hygienic dining experiences. What I encountered was the opposite, unsanitary conditions, hostility, and intimidation. I strongly urge relevant authorities and the public to take note of this incident. Dining establishments must be held accountable for both their hygiene practices and the way they treat customers.
